A family garden
This garden will screen the neighbouring houses and create a cosy wooland seating area in the process. There are views
over open countryside, plenty of lawn for children to play and a raised bed to grow herbs. There are a selection of perennials
and shrubs that are easy to maintain but provide colour and a variety of shapes and textures for almost all the year.
Over two or three years the plants will grow and fill the generously sized borders. A curved path leads from the deck
to the woodland sitting area.

The client wanted to be able to park
a car in front of the house. She wanted to be able to plant sun-loving plants that she couldn't plant in her back garden.
As far as possible, existing materials were re-used.
The client is a skilled gardener and will be planting the garden herself during
this season. Low plants will be used in the parking space in front of the house. Taller grasses and perennials will be planted
in the gravel spaces inside the curves of the setts. The front wall was replaced by a bespoke oak fence. The straight drive
and curves of the parking space are held together by a single large circle of setts that unites the garden.
